The textbook covers modern concepts of diagnosis and treatment of malformations of the neck, chest, lungs, and tracheobronchial tree; esophagus and diaphragm; malformations of the anterior abdominal wall; various forms of congenital intestinal obstruction; malformations of the pylorus, yolk duct, colon, and rectum; biliary tract; pancreas and spleen; malformations of the urinary system; and the musculoskeletal system.
Much attention is paid to the most urgent issues of pediatric emergency surgery, which have an acquired character: purulent-infl ammatory diseases of soft tissues; various forms of hematogenous osteomyelitis; destructive pneumonia; bronchiectasis; purulent-infl ammatory diseases of the urinary system and abdominal organs (diagnosis and diff erential diagnosis, modern methods of conservative therapy and surgical treatment; criteria for the diagnosis of sepsis and the principles of rational antibiotic therapy in children).
The third part of the book focuses on the features of acquired intestinal obstruction in children, various aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of bleeding from the GI tract, portal hypertension, necrotizing enterocolitis of newborns, cholecystitis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, emergency urology of childhood, problems of chylothorax and chyloperitoneum in children.
The fourth part of the textbook is devoted to the specifi c features of trauma in children (skeletal, craniocerebral, thoracic, and abdominal cavities, retroperitoneal space). The textbook is intended for students of medical universities studying in the specialty "Medical Science" in English.
